The Pilatushaus is a very good example of the Lüftlmalerei – thematic, fresco-style paintings on building facades, depicting mainly religious, fairy tale and beer hall scenes. It houses both workshops and a gallery displaying traditional woodcarvings. Before buying carved wood items from any of the other woodcarver shops in town, of which there are several, consider browsing here to see what real skill can produce. There is also a shop next to the Pilatushaus that offers the gallery's carvings for sale.
